DIARY OF A CELEBRITY PERSONAL TRAINER: GUTEN TAG! Hello Germany.

I'M LOVIN GERMANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a little town, (beautiful architecture) called Freiberg in South Germany, staying at a glorious hotel called The Colombi Hotel built in 1958.

As soon as we arrived, I was instantly in love. There are so many wonderful things about my experience here that I couldn’t possible describe them all. So I will point form it...

Get to airport: Virtually empty, sparkling clean and no line up at customs (for once).

Enter transportation services: Lovely polite men pick us up and whisk us off to the hotel. There were little tables in our vehicles! I notice how clean the streets are here, even the water bottles are all glass not plastic. The environment seems like a high priority here.

Enter hotel: If you see the link I’m sure you will agree, GORGEOUS eh?? Ok so there are about 15 people checking in at once and all of us have 2-3 bags, not going to be easy right? Well, we were checked in, our bags unloaded and all of us were being escorted to our rooms with our bags within 5-10 minutes! I'm not kidding or exaggerating on how quickly it took.

Enter hotel room: AHHHH, beautiful...opulent. Such attention to detail I can't tell you. Even the way they placed the sewing kit, shoe horn and laundry bag in the walk in closet. Speaking of the enviro again, all the products (soap, sheets etc.) smell so fresh and so clean. No harsh chemicals seemed to be used.

I was utterly exhausted at this point and had to lay down for nap. So I went to close the curtains and found there where no dark blinds. Was a bit disappointed until I found the switch for the external shutters that closed and made my room Black. As. Night.

After my nap, (I can actually say that was the most tired I have ever been in my life) I dragged myself out of bed and started to get ready for work.

I needed an iron, so I called to use one and they didn’t have one available so they offered to iron my dress for me...Hehe. At this point, I was excited to see what they could do and I agreed. However, I had a 20 minute time limit! But, it was fulfilled and I even had a couple people comment on how well it was pressed, again not kidding. Lol.

Next, we had a number of interviews to prep for at the hotel and then was off to a massive venue for dress rehearsal for a crazy German game show called “ Wetten Dass.”

It's a show that has been running for 25 years, is on 6 times a year and over 15 million people tune in to watch it. We were there till about midnight and then headed back to the hotel and I wasted no time getting back to my room. I had liberated a bottle of red wine from our dressing room. Imagine a fridge full of beer, wine and a food spread that offered all that was delicious and traditionally german, phenomenal! I got into the tub, poured myself a glass and did my best to decompress and prepare for the next few weeks. I am exhausted already.

In the morning I woke up, trained and then went off for a run in the Village. Incredible, I swear it was like running through a story book of Hansel and Gretel. Cobble stone roads, quaint homes and shops, the Black Forest in the background. Plus barely any cars on the road.

We had press in the day and a live acoustic concert for 150 winners of a radio contest in the afternoon.

During the evening, we went to the live recording of Wetten Dass. There was a big boy band called Tokyo Radio?? Not sure who they were, Whitney Houston was also performing.

Stepped out for a bite to eat. In the cafeteria I saw the biggest jar of Nutella in the world. I took various pictures with it and the sweet chef said I could have it...I had to turn it down because I had no luggage room to fit a 5 kilo jar of Nutella. It was bigger than my head!!!

Cool fact, I found out today Freiberg is one of the greenest and most self sustaining cities in Europe! That's why everything is immaculate here. Apparently, when rebuilding the city in the 40's 50's and 60's they built "a city for the people", with the ability to ride bikes, walk and take public transit most places. There is also a high percentage of solar energy used.

Ok. Going to try to sleep so I can run again in the morning.

Heading out to Italy at some point tomorrow, bet they might have Nutella handy ;)

Ok. Its been a couple hrs. What's with me, Europe and sleep? It's 4am here and insomnia kicked in. Plus, I have to wake at 7am to train. Not good. I hope I adjust to this schedule and time zone quickly...

Thats all for now...I am going to try to sleep again.

  1. What is not to love about Germany! I was an Army brat when I was little and we lived there for 5 years. Freiberg was one of the places we lived there. If you ski you really should while there, it's where I learned! Lots of yummy food too! Try not to over indulge yourself, the food isn't very "clean" Ha ha ha. Have fun! I am so jealous!
