DIARY OF A CELEBRITY PERSONAL TRAINER: Day 3 Vancouver Olympics 2010

Awake again early today (late by EST standards). We are 3 hours behind on the West Coast for anyone who doesn’t know!

My day ran a bit like this:
No espresso today
Cardio: 30 minutes
Trained clients: 1.5 hour
Get on the phone and talk to Vinzina (love ya) and try to find out why my Tom Ford sunglass order was cancelled
Prepare meals for client
Train myself: 45 minutes upper body
GET READY TO GO TO OPENING CEREMONIES!!!!! Ahhhhhhhh.

So I didn’t know coming here, that we were able to get tickets to go to the ceremonies, so it was a pleasant surprise to say the least. This was such a magical and beautiful event to attend. Again, I’ve said it before, but I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to be there. It was truly a once in a lifetime gift.

There was an air of sadness for the tragedy that occurred with Nodar Kumaritashvili, the Georgian luger earlier in the day. However, I think the Olympic committee handled it in the best way possible. There is not a good way to deal with such a loss but the ceremony was still a very proud and beautiful moment for everyone. The performances and talent were outstanding, bringing tears to my eyes on many occasions. The electricity in the stadium was beyond words.

Opening the ceremonies was a collaborative song “Bang The Drum” by Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams. There was also the talented Sarah McLachlan, Joni Mitchell, K.D Lang, Wayne Gretzky and Donald Sutherland (to name a few) appearing as torch carriers or with additional performances. The surprise celebrity component was not the only amazing aspect, there was a wonderful cultural element representing the Aboriginal culture of Canada. All in all, there was so much going on!

In the stands, we had to wear these white ponchos. Imagine 60,000 people in white! It looked like a snowy mountain sky-line. Anyways, not sure if the res tof the trip can top this, but I am waiting with open arms to see.
